QUALIFICATIONS: | Master's degree or equivalent experience in Educational Research, Evaluation, or closely related field with some additional coursework in assessment statistics and research design. Minimum 3 years experience in program evaluation, assessment or educational research |
| PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS: | Experience in various aspects of program evaluation, school improvement planning and report writing
Familiarity with accountability and evaluation requirements of Colorado School law or similar state legislation in other states
Experience in working with teachers, school administrators and parents
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Experience with DOS/Windows applications software on PC type microcomputers
Experience with statistical analysis programs or demonstrated interest and ability to learn such applications Experience with VAX mainframe applications |
| SUMMARY OF
FUNCTION: | The evaluation specialist will assist with developing evaluation plans for pilot projects and programs, coordinate data collection for evaluation studies, perform data analysis, write evaluation reports, provide evaluation and accountability assistance to schools and assist with training District staff and accountability committee members in evaluation, school improvement planning and data interpretation and usage. This position will also provide general assistance to the director of evaluation in conducting surveys and supporting system-wide data collection and analysis needs. |
| PERFORMANCE
RESPONSIBILITIES | Assists with the development of evaluation plans for pilot programs under Standards Based Education Act, Charter Schools Act and School Finance Act
Coordinates data collection for pilot project/program evaluation studies
Performs both qualitative and quantitative data analysis in support of pilot project/program evaluations
Writes evaluation reports for pilot project evaluation studies
Provides direct assistance to schools in developing, monitoring and reporting on their school improvement plans in support of the accountability requirement s of the School Finance Act and Standards Based Education Act
Assists with training teachers, administrators and accountability committee members in developing school improvement plans, developing and conducting surveys, interpreting and using data from achievement tests and surveys Conducts literature reviews and other background studies in support of instructional program research and evaluation |

RELATIONSHIPS: | Reports to and is evaluated by the Executive Director-Division of Data and Technology Systems and others as assigned |
| WORK YEAR: | Twelve months (260 days) - 8 hour day |

| SALARY RANGE: | Minimum starting salary: $41,260 |
