Vicki Cartwright and Jack Monopass-Huber have accepted the role of developers for an organization Facebook site which will improve member contact and allow more free discussion of issues affecting school district and state assessment development and implementation.

Board Elections 2009-2010

New 2009 - 2010 Board of Directors was organized based on the March election results.  The Board for 2009 -2010: President, Phil Morse, LAUSD; Vice President & President Elect, Jack Mopas-Huber, Shoreline SD; Immediate Past President, Bonnie Strykowski, Hinsdale SD; Secretary & Newsletter, Connie Zumpf, Cherry Creek Schools; Treasurer, George Olson, Appalachian State U., Board Member-at-Large, Elizabeth Holtzapple, Cincinnati Public Schools; Board Member-at-Large, Mary Yakimowski, University of Connecticut; Board Member-at-Large, Vickie Cartwright, Orange County (Florida) Schools; Webmaster, Ray Fenton, FentonResearch.

Peter Hendrickson NATD Lifetime Achievement Award 2009

Peter Hendrickson of Redmond, WA was recognized with National Association of Test Directors Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2009 Annual Meeting of the NATD in San Diego, CA.  The award is given each year to member of the testing profession for their contribution to the field of student assessment.  Hendrickson, NATD Past President and Board Member, was recognized for his ongoing work to improve assessment and his long history of work on national, regional, state, and local projects to improve assessments and the use of assessments by teachers.

About NATD

About NATD

Purposes for the Organization
  • To share information about testing in educational settings.
  • To encourage the appropriate use of testing in educational settings.
  • To improve the applications of measurement to students and educational programs.
  • To encourage research in the area of elementary and secondary school testing and measurement.

Annual Meeting: NATD meets annually in conjunction with the National Council on Measurement in Education, the American Educational Research Association, and the Directors of Research and Evaluation. For detailed information on conference activities of interest to NATD members click here. (For information about the AERA convention check this link: http://www.aera.net/meeting/).

At the annual meeting, NATD members also hold a dinner meeting. Traditionally sponsors have included:  CTB/McGraw Hill, Harcourt Educational Measurement, Pearson, Riverside Publishing Company, Educational Testing Service and leading publishers.

Publications: NATD publishes a newsletter two to four times per year. Monographs of NATD/NCME sessions presented at the annual meeting and "occasional papers" are published and mailed to members. These publications are also available for purchase.

An NATD directory including mailing addresses, phone numbers, FAX numbers, and EMAIL addresses is distributed to members annually. Lobbying and Networking: NATD monitors legislation affecting testing and seeks to have member representation on panels which study testing issues or set testing standards.

The organization also promotes communication among members and provides mailing labels to employers who wish to send job postings to it's members. NATD periodically surveys its membership to compile information on assessment trends and member needs and shares the results with the membership.

Membership Eligibility: "Active members" include dues paying individuals with responsibility for educational testing programs ; from institutions involved in the construction or use of tests in settings not primarily for profit, including but not limited to, school systems and school system research, assessment, testing, or evaluation departments. "Emeritus members" include dues paying individuals who have been active association members for at least five years and who are no longer employed on a fulltime basis. "Associate members" are dues paying individuals who do not have direct responsibility for testing programs and/or who are involved in test development primarily for profit.

Membership Dues: Membership dues are $20 per year.
